Touch Yourself

about

“Touch Yourself came from a Song-A-Day Challenge that I was doing during the first winter of the pandemic. It was the first lockdown, and we were forbidden from human contact. I woke up turned on and sexually frustrated.. so I channeled that energy into my song for the day. Ha!

At first, because of the subject matter, I thought I’d keep this song to myself. I had a great time building the recording with a drum machine, Black Falcon guitar, and my Beatle-bass, but I only considered the song just-for-fun. Later on, I had some really good feedback from it, so I sent it to Kyle Crane (Daniel Lanois, Rufus Wainwright) in LA and he recorded the drums; That’s when it really felt alive, and like something I wanted to share publicly.

I believe it’s important to open up more normalcy in talking about sexual pleasure; Self-pleasure and shared pleasure. Sexual energy is a beautiful part of the human experience. We don’t exist without it. And because it exists on the same plane as our creativity, it seems appropriate to use music, art, to celebrate our deep connection to our own bodies and each other.”
